Starting with our first official camp event at Freeform Festival 2014, Camp Gold Star has been providing Broth to our camp members, friends, and everyone who walks up, rolls up, drives up, or dances over to our camp until we run out.
Inspired originally by the delicious recipe from another camp she encountered at Frostburn 2014 White Dragon Noodle Bar, our camp lead started making a similar mushroom broth and adding a new ingredient each time she made it until the current incarnation. She believes she may have perfected her recipe at this point and she wants to share it with you.
The recipe can be found below if you would like to make it yourself, but we would love for you to stop by our camp after dark to try our broth.
Gluten Free Soy Sauce
Kosher White Wine
Fresh Green Onions
Garlic Oil and/or extract
Red pepper powder or flakes
In a large pot combine all ingredients in any order you wish, keep heat on medium for at least 30 minutes to allow the mushrooms to soften
Do not let the broth boil, it will ruin the texture of the solid ingredients
Make sure to use dry mushrooms, as fresh ones will continue to absorb too much liquid and will make them chewy and rubbery
Mushrooms, cilantro, green onions and any other items you add can be cooked in the broth in a bag made of cheesecloth, this way all solid ingredient can be removed from the pot before serving. these ingredients are delicious and do not need to be removed, but sometimes, in the middle of the night, when no one is sober, chewing is the last thing you want to do... just drink this mushroom broth, no drugs, just soup - Enjoy!
